One Naturally Holey Beach Stone, Coquinoid Sandstone, Tube-shaped
With a heart-shaped hole.
Surf-tumbled by the tides and time.
Collected by me along the shores of the Treasure Coast.
Look through this tube like a kaleidoscope, but with a heart-shaped opening
on the end.  How romantic.... I can see this at a special event... anniversary, wedding, or
a marriage proposal.
This tube shaped stone is 1 1/8 inches long,
Is 7/8 inches wide,
and just over 1/2 inch tall.
The tube hole is approximately 1/4” x 1/8”
The heart-shaped hole is just over 1/4” wide at the top of the lobes.
The hole is long and straight, over 1/2 inch of tube!
The stone is smooth and rounded, golden tan.
Quite an astonishing natural creation.

Hag stones have occupied myth and magic folklore for

stones that have a naturally occurring hole inside them.
These stones are often
found along the coastal points,
beaches, and streams. These holes occur from the elements
beating down upon them over many years.  There are also
speculations that these mysterious
stones may have been
formed by a “worm hole”. A Hag stone is also known as a
Witch Stone
or Adder Stone or Holey Stone and has quite
a bit of lore and many magical properties associated
with them.  Part of the folklore is that if you look through
the holes you can see fairies.
